26 years ago my happy life changed completely when my lovely dad died of cancer.
In the car park of the hospital I sat between the cars and cried out, “I wish I believed there was not just this life! I don’t want this to be the end”. Sadly I didn’t expect & didn’t listen for a reply.
Five years went by and then I found myself with my fiancé in the local vicar’s study. As I handed back the marriage forms with “deceased” by my father’s name my eyes were full of tears.
The vicar asked if he had passed away recently and I noticed something in his eyes, it seemed like a sadness for my tears.
This generous hearted vicar went out of his way to pop by after the wedding to see us and maintained regular contact, always saying he was just passing. Eighteen months after the wedding at a low time in my life I went on the Evidence Course. I had never heard anything like it and week after week I was seeing clips of completely normal people who were explaining why they believed in Jesus. I was amazed. After every session I would spend a further hour in the car park with one other lady going over all we’d heard.
One night on the drive home when I felt like I had an onerous choice to make, I audibly heard Jesus say, “Lisa, it’s me you have been searching for, put your hand in my hand and I will always be with you”.
I have never looked back, that moment changed my life for good. I have had the most thrilling and wonderful journey and I know Jesus has never left me or forsaken me. Instead, He has sustained me, strengthened me, taught me, loved me and I have seen His power at work in my life and those around me. (Lisa’s story – www.eauk.org)
